Pushed and Born in the USA are not specifically about homebirth, but rather about the US Obstretic system, and they are very pro-homebirth. If your husband is willing to read a book, Born in the USA is the one I would recommend. Very fact based, and kind of infuriating. It was written by a very prestigious OB as well, so it's coming from a doctor (and former head of Women's and Children's care for the WHO) so he comes off as a lot more of a medical authority than some other authors.
I'm reading Gentle Birth Choices by Barbara Harper right now. I'm only partway through the second chapter, but it's pretty eye opening. It goes through the history of childbirth in the US and really gives you a feel for how things got as out of control (or as stupidly in control as the doctors try to make it) now. I'm thinking when I'm a practicing mw it'll be a book I recommend.
