Does your m/w do it routinely? Is it something you've had done before? What (if any) has been your experience with it?

They are routine for my m/w practice. I had one while pregnant with Owen and I started prelabour that night, so it was successful for me.

Nope. My midwife was very hands off the cervix unless absolutely needed or requested by Mom.

My MW with Zane they only will do sweeping if you are overdue, as you really can't go past 42w in CA or something like that. So at 41w I got a sweep. No labor. Zane was born 5 days after the sweep.

My MW here in the UK is pretty hands off the cervix and internal checks. I requested a sweep at 41w just like with DS#1. I went into labor about 6 hours later and DS#2 was born 12.5hrs after the sweep. (I did do nipple stimulation in the shower after the sweep with my breast pump which I believe helped)

Mine left it up to me. I had it done a couple times -- and utimately a cervicle massage. Neither seemed to make much of a differnce, also since I was already 6cm she said there was not really much to sweep.

Mine did it at 41 weeks, but I was so NOT dilated we knew it wasn't likely to help.

I had my baby 7 days later.

never had one, my MW will only do it once mom goes overdue. and even then she is hands off. I had Sophia at 38 weeks, and had never had an internal.
