I found someone who will help! She seems pretty awesome and only lives about 40 minutes away. I talked to her on the phone but now DH said to make an appt. to meet with her.
I've never had a midwife before. Don't they usually come to your house for visits? She said that I would come to her office and that she will do a home visit. Her fees are $2500. She will require an additional U/S that insurance may cover to check the placenta.
Does this sound right to you ladies?
The midwives I'm interviewing will come for a home visit closer to the birth, but all the other visits are at their office. I think that is pretty normal. The two I'm looking at charge between $1900-2500, so sounds about right to me! Congrats on finding someone
Glad you found someone. My midwife has been to our house about 3 times and we go to her office the rest of the time. Can't remember the total fee, but that sounds about right.
Good luck with your homebirth
My midwives do all the visits at home, but their fees are much higher than what yours is charging (would have been $4800 if they hadn't given me a discount since I had my first visits with another provider).
Many midwives require a dating ultrasound early in the pregnancy to verify that your dates are correct for a safe term home birth. That's probably what she was talking about.
