and he's 80% on board with going for it! I didn't think he ever really would so just out of the blue I said "I think I'll just have this one at home" and he said "You would.......wouldn't you". He then started asking questions like - who would deliver, what if something went wrong, you mean I have to see the placenta? lol. I'm going to talk to my doula tomorrow and get a little more info about the local HB Midwife (I've met her a couple of times at meetings) and just to get an idea on how to make dh a little more comfortable with the idea. Then I'll take steps to set up a meeting with the midwife, and if we decide we really want to do it I will talk to my midwife as well (this is my 5th pregnancy with her) to get her opinion on if she feels it is safe enough for me to birth at home. I trust her with my life and have had pretty smooth deliveries but did have hemorrhaging with #'s 1, 3 and 5 and I also want to be sure she's willing to be my backup should I need transferred.

Anyway.........I'm excited!! I love the hospital birthing center all my kids were born at and had a wonderful relaxing and peaceful waterbirth with my youngest but this is the last baby and I want to try something a little new Although, if I have this one at home I may find I enjoyed it so much I have to do another haha.

Hope you ladies don't mind if I pop in with some questions or for some reassurance during this time of deciding.

**Update** I talked to the Home Birth midwife on the phone today for quite awhile and we're going to set up a day next week for her to come out and meet my family and answer any questions we have Since I'm on 17p injections to prevent preterm labor she said it's probably best that I continue seeing my CNM for my primary care through 36 weeks which is when I stop the injections, but that she'll also come out a few times during that time just to get to know each other a bit more on a personal level. She said I sound like a great canditate for HB and that she would definitely prorate the fee (which is normally 2100-2800 for full pregnancy). I can't wait to sit down and talk with her more along with dh, I'll be writing down all our questions so we don't forget anything and then talk more about our final decision after that.

Thanks ladies!! Dh still has his doubts about it but you know what - he is very stand-offish during labor/delivery and the most he participates is by holding my hand and cutting the cord so in the end, what *I* want is going to win anyway lol.

My DH had some issues with it up until I was in labor, even then I think he was a little nervous. But in the end he was really glad we did it (and that I talked him into it! hehe). My view on it, is if he isn't going to divorce you over it, then go for it!

My mom said she really wanted a home birth but my dad was NOT ok with it. She said she had to decide between getting a home birth and being a single parent... or just going to the birth center! (She still went natural with both her births!)

I'm glad you're going to get the birth you want and that your hubby is on board! My DH was very skeptical about homebirth until we had a consultation with our midwife. She really put a lot of his fears at ease and he actually agrees now that it is the best way to go for us Hopefully once your DH meets the midwife and has her explain things he will feel more comfortable.

That's terrible that your mom had to deal with an ultimatum like that I know dh definitely won't go to that extreme but I'd love for him to be with me on it rather than just doing it to avoid my crabbiness lol.

That's what I'm hoping, I'm going to call her in a day or 2 and set up a day/time for her to come over.

I'll be calling her soon I was going to have her come over last week but I was going through a TON of stress with my teenage daughter and going off only about 3 hours sleep each night really took a toll on the way my house looks lol.
