Do you plan on using a doula for your homebirth? For those that delivered already did you use a doula?

I had one last time. Used her in early labor the first day and our first time to the hospital, but on the second day I didn't call her to come back. I liked her until I was in the hospital. Her whole personality changed and I didn't like what she was doing. I felt comfortable just being on my own. I'm happy with my choice.

This time I'm not having one either. It was either that, or a birth photographer. I'm choosing the photographer, as I know I can do just fine without the doula.

I'm using the one that also taught our birth class. My husband and I really like her and feel comfortable. She's going to take photos for us as well. She and our midwife know each other so it should be a positive experience for everyone involved.

I did for my last two births. She is also a friend of the family and it was wonderful having her help with the kids as well as give me support during labor. She might be out of town for our upcoming birth and I'm so sad just thinking about it!

I had a student midwife who was to act as doula for my last birth, but my MW banned her from the hospital during labour. (Personal problem that I'm not getting into) She has offered to be my doula next time, and I'm thinking about it. My ND offered to be there as well, which would be amazing!

Me: Autoimmune (Hashimotos and Fibromyalgia), vitamin D and calcium deficiency. Treated with Synthroid, supplements, TCM and acupuncture.

DH: Severe MFI (low counts, low motility, poor morphology and high antibodies), likely caused by poor liver function. Treated with Clomid to increase total counts.
