Do you have someone take pics during your labor? Or do you have a person to videotape it? Did anyone hire a photographer?

I was just talking to DH about this the other day because we don't really have anyone who could come take pictures/video. My oldest did with our 3rd and offered to do it again but school starts in 2 weeks and if baby comes while he's at school that kind of rules him out for that! I guess I'll just have to hope DH can multi-task, he knows how important lots of pictures are to me!!

I might just set up the video camera near the tub (or where ever we end up) and then I can take stills from the video.

I would love to have a birth photographer but I really don't think we'll hire one because we're already paying out of pocket for our midwife. I haven't thought much about who will take pictures. I would like DH to just focus on me and the baby and not worry about snapping pics. My midwife will have an assistant present and she said that the assistant can preform tasks like getting me drinks, etc. So maybe she would be willing to take a few pictures too. I'll have to ask at my next appointment!

We did not have someone photographing our last birth, and we were both so wrapped up in the birth experience that no pictures could be taken by my hubby, and because of it, we have NO pictures of my daughter until mich later in the day (after we took our post-birth nap) and so we have decided that at our next birth we will have someone, even if its just a friend. I'm a professional photographer, but obviously I can't take the pictures myself lol. We were just sad we didnt have any of my daughter right after her birth or anything . So personally, i'd reccomend having someone that will do it for you, be it a friend or a photographer.

We had a birth photographer at our last two births and will have a photographer + videographer at our upcoming birth in February.

Here's Max's birth:

Here's a link to my midwife's birth (she's my best friend, too ) that I attended. This is the videographer that we are using. :

I highly recommend having someone there to document the birth. We though DH could take pics but he was too busy supporting me and loving on his new baby to pick up the camera.
