Hey all! I'm not currently pregnant, but my DH is in the middle of applying for a job in GA, and I wondered if someone could shed some light on the HB laws there? I've heard it's illegal for a midwife to attend a HB, but is this still the case? If so, how do you get around it? Now that I've experienced both a hospital birth, and a HB, I will NOT go back to the hospital! I just don't see a need, or think normal birth belongs there...
I know some people seek prenatal care from an OB.. Some have arrangements right from the start, and their OB is fully aware and ok with them having a HB.. other's just end up having an "Oops" at home... But either way, I'm not real keen on the idea, because I prefer the hands off/respectful midwifery model of care.
Anyway, I know this is all premature planning, but I just wondered if someone might be able to offer some tips/advice? Thanks
Oh and we are looking to move west of Atlanta...If you know of any good birthing centers etc.. feel free to PM me!
I'm moving to southeast TN in a couple weeks and will only be about 30 miles for the GA border. The midwife I chose actually lives in GA but only delivers in TN because of the legalities. I know that during my search though I did come across several midwifes that HB in GA around the Atlanta area.
