When did the baby get his/her first bath? How was baby initially cleaned up? I'm not homebirthing but have "no bath unless requested" on my birth plan to avoid separation. Just curious about how baby care went down post birth.
Korbin never left my side, only for like 10 min but he layed between my legs on the bed so they could do the exam. We didn't give Korbin his first bath until he was about 3 days old, we just stayed in bed doing lots of skin to skin and nursing.
She was wiped up right next to me about an hour or two after her birth. We washed her hair the next day using a bowl and towel. We would have done that the day of her birth, but I ended up having some complications and had to be transferred to the hospital the night of her birth.
We just wrapped her in a towel. We haven't bathed her yet. Of course, she is only a day old right now. We did wash her bum in the sink because her first meconium diaper was such a big sticky mess. But that's it so far.

I haven't had my home birth yet (will very soon though) but my midwife runs an herbal bath for mom and baby to take after some bonding time so although I won't be 'washing' baby, we will be relaxing in the herbal bath shortly after birth.

I did a waterbirth with my last 2 daughters so they kind of washed off in the water after they were born. We never bathed them until about a week old, but I wiped them down when they needed it. Alexis had some vernix left on her head, so I had to wipe her hair down a few times before her first bath.
