In the event of a hospital transfer, should we visit the L&D unit?? None of my other children were born at either of the hospitals that we could be transferred to.

Personally I would, just because for me a transfer would be traumatic enough without adding in an unfamiliar place

Thats what I was thinking as well. I just didnt know if that would be weird since we are planning to have the baby at home.....like if we take a tour that we would be setting ourselves up for failure.

I dont think it would be weird and its not setting yourself up for failure, its preparing for every possible outcome, which is really smart IMO.

FWIW i filled out the hospital pre registration info and did a quick tour of the hospital where my MW has privileges (not the same hospital my older son was born in) and our homebirth went perfectly

I didn't but if it wasn't life or death would have been transferred to the naval hospital which I had already delivered my 3rd child at. The hospital closest to my house I didn't tour, but I don't think its a bad idea to see how things are in case of a transfer.
