Has anyone been successful at receiving reimbursement for your home birth/midwife fee's??

Im in canada so i know its different than in the States but here MW/Home births are 100% covered just as a hospital birth with an OB would be

With my insurance they paid half of my home birth. I know there are a few others out there that paid and got reimbursement.

Our insurance just switched at the beginning of the year, so we might get a portion of the midwife fee's back as long as my m/w can get us the diagnostic codes for all of my appointments.

Yes. I live in Florida where it's the law for insurance companies to reimburse midwives. However, my midwives were still out of network, so insurance only reimbursed at 60% of what the insurance company felt the fee should be (which was, of course, lower than what the midwives charged), plus I had to pay a higher deductible for out-of-network, so only about half of my midwives' fees were reimbursed.

Nope, we are paying out of pocket for our midwife. Our insurance (federal BCBS) will cover midwives but they have to bill under a supervising doctor which obviously most home birth midwives do not. My midwife did say though that most of her patients do have at least some coverage for their home birth. We were just unlucky

Yep my hb was covered (BCBS). I had 2 midwives (cpm&cnm). They split the money.Since i start seeming them until my 8th month the cost was only $800 something. This time i'm expecting to pay out of pocket because i have kaiser HMO !

I paid out of pocket for all of my homebirths.
