Edit: Ah, now I get the question LMAO!!!

We pay out of pocket. Insurance doesn't cover homebirths in either state I've lived in, at least not the insurance we had during those pregnancies.

First birth the kit and pool was included in the fee ($2500, but we only paid 2k b/c we saw her 1/2 through the pregnancy).

This one is only $1800 b/c visits are at her house and she lives out in the woods (fine by us). Birth pool is $100 extra but we're buying our own.

ours is covered by universal health care, just like a hospital birth. I did buy a birthing pool, which was out of pocket but that really didnt require much funding or anything, i just used our extra money one month

I shouldn't trust the ipad. Lol.

We have been lucky to where we also end up pregnant during tax time so we have used our taxes to pay for the birth. Our insurance partially pays for hb. They ended up paying a lot more the 2nd time so we got a 500 refund.

We are paying cash. We're not married yet and his insurance (which will cover some) won't cover me until we are. We make payments - the total will be $2800 and that includes the use of one of her two pools.

We pay cash as insurance doesn't cover any of it. We do get a discount for cash plus being a repeat client. In addition to her fee there is a $75 birth kit, $200 tub rental (heated with jets, I love it) and $300 assistant fee.

Insurance didn't cover ours. We are still paying for it in small amounts every month. $4,000. We had to pay for our birth kit but everything else was covered.

I think it's crazy that most insurances don't at least partially cover home birth. It shouldn't be a fight.
