How do you think this phrase makes birthing women feel? My ob said he might LET me do this or let me do that....

What should they say instead..

to me the word lets feels really authoritative, that they have the final say, or i dont really get a choice in it. i think they should say that their OB "supports" X instead of "lets", instead of my OB might let me have a vbac or might let me go overdue it should be my ob supports my vbac and my OB supports my plan to not induce before 42 weeks

I haaaaaaaaaaaaate that saying. HATE IT. Drives me nuts!! No one "lets" you do anything with your body.I think a better way to phrase that is, "How do you feel about considering ____ if ____ happens?"

I hate it too! I feel like the phrase is talking to children, rather than grown up women who can make their own choices. I feel they need to learn better people skills! UGH!

Ugh - I absolutely hate that term too!! No one "lets" me do something.. or "doesn't let" me. I hate when women say it too, "welllllll... my OB didn't let me do that, soooooo..." but I keep my mouth shut usually.

oh my gosh, yes! I have heard that from several people. Its like your body your choice, but I have to learn that mentality, I was the same way before.
