What do you look forward to most about your homebirth/ what was the best aspect if you've already done one?

For me, I will be in control and nothing will happen that I don't want to, and I am so looking forward to sharing this beautiful experience with my husband who was shoved out of our hospital birth by machines and nurses. OH, and the candles......lots of candles.

I kind of want it for the same reason. So my body can be in control and so the baby can be in control. I dont want those darn limits on laboring. I dont want threats to put on pitocin or have an emergency c/s because of "failure to progress" Have these people never hear of the Natural alignment plateau? I also want the personal experience with DH and DD. I dont want all that hassle, and unneeded intervention by a bunch of OB's. I just want things to happen exactly how they do in NATURE, that is what our bodies are after all!

I look forward to being the first one to see my baby, not the last. I want to be in labor bonding with my husband not cursing him, feeding off of his strength and support. I'm excited to be in charge of myself and not have to answer to anyone... There's so much that I'm looking forward to I can't even tell.

I agree with yall. The environment of a homebirth is wonderful. It's private...It's intimate. I was able to spend time with just my husband and myself. It was beautiful. Also, the lighting. I hated bright lights while I was birthing. I spent most of my time in very dim lighting. :-) I also had access to my own food...I slept in my own bed with my baby nestled beside me. There was no worry that someone would come in a steal my baby or that she'd get some infection from the hospital.

The best parts for me:

Being in the privacy of my own home, where nobody is pressuring me to do anything I don't want to. And having DH beside me, believing in me, and not being brushed aside by hospital staff.

Not having my crotch on display for every doctor, nurse, lunchlady, and student to gawk at.

Sleeping in my own bed after it's all over.

Something stupid? I love using my own shower. I was a nurse on the post partum floor at our local hospital, and while I KNOW they clean everything - I couldn't help but envision all my past patients bleeding all over the place in the hospital shower. Maybe I'm a bit of a germaphobe. I REALLY, REALLY appreciated being in my own shower, where no other post partum woman has been before...and *I* know exactly how clean it is, because I am the one who cleans it!

The best parts::

Being in my home, in familliar surroundinds

Having my children here

Being able to labor where I wanted

Being able to labor how I wanted

Not being poked and prodded, if I wanted checked, I asked

My baby not being touched

Getting to just hold my baby after birth and nurse her

Us being the only ones who were handling her

Not being treated like an idiot

Not having some trying to "control my labor"

The best part was just being able to be a woman in labor! Not a hostess or a patient. Just a woman working to get her baby out. With that came all the other good things.
