How many of you who have had a home birth or wanted one have been transported? What was it for? How did everything go? How did the hospital treat you?
I've only met one person who had to be transported... but I don't think she was really ready to have a homebirth... The midwife didn't even suggest it... she begged to go to the hospital. And she didn't do a lot of info on it or anything. I think she did it because everyone she knew who was pregnant was doing it too.
I think it might be benificial to hear some stories about women who had to be transported...
Since I have been in training we have only had 1 transport. The mother was VERY prepared and she labored well but couldn't seem to get past a certain point. There was just a feeling that something was off and it was agreed to go to the hospital. It ended up being a good transport with a C - section performed due to fetal distress. The reasons for this distress were discovered after the section and had to do with the placenta. It was one of those birth things that happen. You don't know the reason. But the birth is kept from happening and everyone there can just feel that medical attention is a good idea. It just gives me chills! Babies KNOW what they are doing!
