OK, this is semi cross posted in my DDC, my in laws are coming on wed. so my FIL can help my DH with a construction job. I barely get along with these people. FIL drinks way too much, and my MIL is kinda in-your-face. Oh and VERY traditional, they still aren't quite sure why i breastfeed. I CANNOT have them in my house for my birth. I have been fighting tooth and nail with BOTH our moms about being present for the birth. I honestly don't feel i will be able to relax enough while they are here to go into labor, is this possible? I have had exactly one migraine in my life, and it was at 30 weeks when they were visiting. If I DO go into labor, i see no alternative other than just kicking them out the door, i also don't want anyone around after the birth....i don't know who else other than you guys could possibly understand this intense need i feel to be alone at this time. I don't think there's a whole lot of advice anyone could give, i just need to be identified with......

At this point there's no real use in trying to prevent birth I don't think, if it's gonna happen you'll just have to boot them. I find that not-so-idle threats help in this department (you know all about the madness that is my MIL) and when those fail, cops are great! (JK about the cops part - that'd be a bit tense for a birth)

I can comiserate, people keep calling us to see if I'm in labor and if they can come over. Even when I am in labor the answer will be no and DH is not to call anyone under pain of death. And should they show up here they will find locked doors and a super b!tch to kick them right back to whereever they came from!

Good luck with them, I feel your pain!

Why does everyone want to be at the birth of someone else's baby? I don't particularly want to be present at the birth of my own children, much less standing around while someone else is in labor. It's not a God-given right that just because you know someone who happens to be having a baby, that you get to be there. Please, people!
