If you could recommend two books for me to read about homebirth/birth in general, which would they be, and why (keep it short! ) do you think people should read them? What information in them is so indispensable?

Just askin'. I should be getting some money for my birthday.

Books I have read....

Birthing From Within~ Pam England and Rob Horowitz

Ina Mays Guide to Childbirth~Ina May Gaskin

The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth~Henci Goer

Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way~ Susan McCutcheon

Gentle Birth Choices~Barbara Harper

Birth Your Way~Shiela Kitzinger

I say find what you can at the library, buy the rest, read 'em all, compare, talk to other natural/homebirthers/doulas/midwives, research on the 'net. Get all the info you can.

If anyone else has other book suggestions, I love to read!!!

I loved Gentle Birth Choices. Great book, great info! There is also a video that goes along with it. You may want to check your local library system for a copy of the video. Every woman should watch it!

I would add Unassisted Childbirth by Laura Kaplan Shanley to that list since you are looking at UC

I totally agree with anything by Ina Mae Gaskins. In addition, I love Active Childbirth by Jeanne Pavarti. If you want a very easy read (reads like a novel that I couldn't put down! ), try Baby Catcher. Happy reading!
