My last question reminded me of another question (which always happens to me ), that I haven't gotten around to asking my midwife yet. I'm sure someone here will know...

What's the earliest that it's generally considered safe to deliver at home? I really don't expect my little girl to be early, but life has a way of throwing the unexpected at you.

Any idea?

I believe it was 36 weeks for my midwife, but I don't know if that's her own choice or by law of the state. I remember being very happy when I reached that point because I knew we had the green light to birth at home

Depending on your birth history, my MWs is usually 36 or 37. I do have a friend who had two babies at 35 weeks, and was approved for anythign 35 weeks and beyond but mainly b/c shes had 2 births at 35 weeks, and neither baby needed any additional care - which is very unusual.

Depends on what the midwife is comfortable with and how sure of your dates you are. Usually 35-37 weeks for most midwives.

Thanks, ladies! I'm really not concerned about her coming before 35 weeks or so. I'm thinking I'll be lucky if she's out by 42. But it's nice to know, just in case!
