what kind of food should i bring with me to my birth center? they don't have a full kitchen, but a microwave and fridge. i am thinking some soup or just broth, granola bars, juice...any other suggestions? what did you crave when you were in early labor? also i think i need something for dh to eat, though he's the type to not eat when he gets nervous...i know NOTHING about that since i tend to go the other way, but labor is kind of different too...

ps i'm loving reading all of your advice and experiences at home!

Sounds like you have some great ideas already. I didn't want anything at all to eat while I labored at home...I finally had some grapes (at my midwife's urging) and they were SO good. Nice and cold and juicy, and small enough to enjoy between contractions. So, that's a thought.

I didnt' really eat anything at my birth center birth until after she was born. But then again, my labor was short and in the middle of the night, I just wasn't hungry.

I would bring some stuff that's easy to eat, hydrating, and good for energy. Grapes sound like a great idea. popsicles, there's a drink you can make called laborade, but I dont' have the recipe (I know someone who does though).

for after the birth they usually want you to have a meal with protien, so some beef stew or somthing like that would be good.

I like the grapes idea. I wanted small bites of things that I could eat between contractions. I had strawberries and little crispy breadsticks with hummus.

Thanks so much for the lovely siggie Trish (mtdk454)!!!!
