Any opinions on either? I don't really want to spend the $100 on the labassine since I'm only going to use it once (this is our last baby). But if everyone really thinks its that much better than the cheaper model, than thats what we'll have to do.
Either one is probably fine. I used the fishy one for 2 births and it's sitting here waiting to go again....very comfy! It has enough room for me to move around, sturdy for leaning on, nice cushy bottom. No complaints at all.
i'm getting the fishy pool because it's cheaper lol. but my friend highly recommended it, she says she sat in a friend's labassine and it was too small. granted, this friend is a 6'3" amazonian goddess, so that probably has something to do with it! it probably doesn't apply to us mere mortals.
I'm leaning towards the fishy one as well, based mostly on price. I had a waterbirth with my daughter Julia (at a birth center). With her labor, I really didn't have the want or desire to use the tub until I hit transition. I was in the tub for about 30-45 minutes before she was born. I loved giving birth in water, and will do it again, but as for laboring in the tub, I found (for me at least) moving around was more helpful. However, I obviously recognize the chance that I won't feel like that again, seeing as how every labor and birth are so different.
I had the fishy pool, but I had the larger one - I'm 5'10" and wanted to be sure I had plenty of room to move around, and plenty of depth so my backside wouldn't be sticking out of the water if I did the hands and knees position. (And it still did, a little. ) But it was VERY comfy and very roomy, I'd still use it again.
Don't know about the Bassine - I hear it's great, but I couldn't justify spending that much on a pool, personally.

I still haven't ordered it yet, but am definitely thinking I'm going with the fishy one. I'm only 5 2 and I know for a fact DH will NOT be in the tub with me, so I think the smaller one will be just fine...
With the fishy one... how easy was set up? clean up? filling it up? Do you need to purchase anything else for it?
