nope, no lotus birth here. my poor kids didn't even get delayed clamping- although that wasn't by my choice. i'm undecided for this one...i think i'm just going to see how i feel at the time. a friend of mine was going to do a lotus birth, but about 6 hours later got fed up with it and cut the cord.

I will not be doing a lotus birth. I will wait a while to cut the cord though.

I'm not doing one. I just dont see the benefits to be that big compared to waiting a bit of time to cut.

No...we waited a while (half an hour? 45 minutes?) before cutting the cord, though.

I havent done it. I do know a couple girls who did though, and there was a poster here that did. It is usually more of a spiritual/emotional thing than a medical benefit, and they could probably go into more detail

ya, I think of it less as a health thing, and more as a spiritual/adjustment time.

I also think it's a good way to keep a period of seperation with just my husband, our baby and I before a ton of people come see the baby.

Wow I hadn't thought about it keeping visitors away. We waited about an hour to cut the cord with dd (ds was a hosp birth with stupid immediate clamp and cut). Next time we'll do the same and I think I'm going to try the placenta smoothies because I do NOT want ppd again.

I had planned it for my last baby, but DH got scared, and we went to the hospital to give birth instead of at home...THIS TIME I AM NOT GOING ANYWHERE!!! Nither is the baby's placenta, we will have a natural lotus homebirth and I am very excited about it!!!
