I am 21 weeks today. YEAH!
I went to the OB/Gyn yesterday. He's a very good doc but, it's officially clear to us that we're not going to agree with him or need his assistance at this point. We just don't see eye to eye.
He has deemed me high risk from the get go, primarily for BP.
He did however, give us a referral to perinatology for a level II u/s but, the earliest I can get an appt. w/them is at the very end of March. We'll keep that appt. & make sure this baby is ok and then we'll cxl further appts. We don't want to know the gender but, my previous had hydronephrosis/hydroureter and we just want to know if this baby has it, too. Though our plan would not change for having a HB.
DH took me out for a special dinner last night because he could see I was really bummed. I'm thrilled to have a HB but, I had higher hopes/expectations of that doc. I work at the hospital and I know that he's one of the best but, like most docs, they flock together, which makes me sad.
Anyway, time to regroup and refocus. Hopefully everything will be chi aligning from this point fwd.
Thanks for reading,
Kristin & "The Boys" + 1 due 7/08'

(((hugs)))

So - tell me, what is your BP that makes them concerned? What are the #s?

Have you considered seeking out a second or third opinion? From a MW and maybe even an OB thats a DO (they TEND to be more naturally minded, but arent always).

Good luck, its hard to stay focused but it sounds like you are still doing what you need to do for you, so hang in there

Lala...

Lala-
At home, 134/69 in the morning. I was not looking fwd. to this appt. because my last appt. was in the beginning of Jan., he asked me to take a BP rx that I don't agree with & I didn't do the 24 hr. urine collection he asked for w/blood work as baselines for kidney function. My intent was to go and see if he'd order the level II u/s. Anyway, when we got to the appt. yesterday, my bp was 150/86. I asked him if there's a link between protein intake & high bp because from what I saw on the net, there was. He says, not to his knowledge. I don't eat meat. He asked if I was a vegan. I said no. He said there's no link that he knows. Agh.
He basically said that a bp of 160 would cause most to seek intervention w/induction, etc. I'm not going that route. Period. BTDT.
I just don't agree w/taking a bp rx 3x a day to relax my blood vessels for bp that is mostly high while I'm pg, esp. when I have huge amounts of anxiety about going to the doc. The side effects aren't worth it, either. I understand that he thinks it's best for me.. and I'm sure it covers him legality wise but, it's just not something I believe in & he's not really giving me other choices.
Unfortunately, every doc/mw I've seen has said they're concerned & pref. me to take the rx.
Thanks much for your reply & encouragement,
Kristin & "The Boys" +1 due 7/08'

Yay for being halfway there!! I'm sorry you and the OB aren't seeing eye to eye on things, though. I hope everything looks good at the u/s - please let us know!!

I was once told that if someone was anxious to see a dr in the first place that could be the main reason for the elavated BP! So it may not actually be soo high if it had been takin elsewhere... or was it?

PS, congrats on being half way or more there! YAY
