My sister is due w/ number 2 in April of 07. I know some people don't have a shower for their 2nd but I'd really like to throw her one. She had one w/ her 1st but even though it was nice, it wasn't special, kwim? And I'd really like for her to have that this time around.
Now, she goes for an u/s in December to find out the gender.. so I was thinking of having it in February. Do you think that's too late? I just figure w/ Christmas and then my DDs birthday is in January, it'd be easiest (financially) to have it in Feb.
I'm just looking for some suggestions for themes and cakes, etc.. I'd really like to bake one myself... and games, how many? I don't want it to be boring, but I don't want it to be too over the top, kwim?

That's so sweet of you to want to throw your sister a shower. I had one for all 3 babies and I never asked for 1. It all depends on your friends and family I guess. I think February is the perfect time because the holidays are so hectic as it is. Then March gets busy with spring breaks and it seems like there are tons of birthdays in March as well. Your guests will have the perfect time to search out gifts from holiday sales as well.
Do you want the shower to be gender specific or neutral?
I saw a really cute idea of using a baby bath as the centerpiece and putting punch in it. Then float NEW rubber ducks in it. Mom gets the bath & ducks when it's over.
Also, another cute idea is to have guests decorate a onesie with fabric paint as they come. This gives them something to do when they arrive and also gives baby some new clothes. Hang them on a clothesline with clothes pins for an added shower decoration.
I have lots more info at my baby shower guide. I don't think I'm allowed to post a link but if you look hard enough, you'll find it. :wink-wink:
