So far I've noticed my registry really being taken into consideration. I put lots of options of different blankets or picture frames, some of the more important things there are only one option. I just requested they don't buy clothes unless they're 3/6+ months.
I hope they respect it, my shower is on the 27th so I'll have to wait & see!
My shower is Feb 10th! I have been peeking and noticed people are buying stuff off the registry. My invites went out last week and someone already bought the bedding, mobile, lamp, and changing pad cover, and my snugli carrier.
mine is this Saturday and I have peeked at mine(Wal Mart and Tpys R US ) and only 3 things have been purchased so far all together on the lists....So either people are waiting til the last minute or they are not scanning the items or just buying whatever they want....
I had three showers for DD#1. For one shower, most people bought from the registry. For another shower, it was 50/50. And, for another shower, very little was bought from my registry.
I think people should pay more attention to the registry. I had a friend who only had about 20 people at her shower. She got FOUR or FIVE baby monitors!!! Ouch.
For me, I had over 30 outfits that my DD never got to wear - mostly because they were the wrong size when they were going to be in-season. (I ended up giving those outfits to a friend who had a baby girl 6 months younger than my DD in the hope they'd be the right size in-season for her daughter.) Plus, I literally have over 30 baby/toddler blankets. They are such a pain to store. Now that it's been nearly 2 years, I'm thinking of going through them and donating some of my least favorites. DD is getting old enough that I need that storage room for other stuff. I could store them in our basement with everything else, but then, I know they won't get used if they aren't in her room.
I registered and am glad I did. I put everything I thought I would need on there, and got almost everything. It was fun watching what was being bought before my shower
Then I was surprised to see who got me what! ha!
It was worth it for us. All of the big items were bought and we got a lot of gift cards as well, so we can go pick up the rest. We only got one thing we couldnt use (one woman bought a swing that we hadnt picked, and we also got the one we had picked out) but she bought it from WalMart so I can return it without a receipt.
