Hello, My name is Michelle I am 27 years old and I have an amazing 8 year old little boy named Braydin who has asthma. This past week has been horrible. Last Friday night the 13th I take my son to the ER hes wheezing etc and the xopenex wasent working. i have a pulse ox at home per his specialist so I can monitor his o2's when he gets bad.His o2's were running 85 asleep and 90-91 awake, so we get there they check his o2's ONCE and it was 92. They took xrays, said he was breathing fine etc and discharged him.Saturday morning I wake up and I swear I thought he was dead, he was ghost white and gray, I scream for my husband, he calls the dr on call at his pediatricians office and we are told to meet him there at 10am and when we did he was imed. admitted, then got a call from the ER saying they looked over his xrays and he has pneumonia in his left lower lobe. Me and my husband were BEYOND furious over the way the ER dr talked to me and treated me then kicking him out basically with o2's that low. So he gets discharged from the hospital on Monday morning. He was doing fine all week, last night his o2's dropped to 82 when he was asleep, took him to the ER, same dr was on was about to send him home because his o2's were 94 awake. my husband demands that he calls my son's dr and she admitted him over the phone. They take him to the pediatric floor and at 5am he falls asleep o2's drop to 85 they put him on oxygen. The other doctor at his doctors office comes in this AM to check on him basically looking at us like we were nuts for being there, basically ignore everything we say. i am furious they act like we are crazy, my son's o2s run 94-95 when hes awake but once he falls asleep they range from 82-89, and since hes awake once we get to the er they see the 94 and oh hes fine your just making things up. Im literally in tears writing this because I am so frustrated that no one will listen to me and figure out why his o2's drop like this at night.

See if the ped that you like will order a sleep study so that they can monitor it from there... I don't know if you have one where you are. Our local ped hospital does sleep studies though. At least they could see him do it and not just think you are nuts. That is not safe for him to be satting that low. He needs more O2 in his blood and if he isn't getting it on his own then something is wrong. ((((HUGS)))) I'm sorry you guys are getting the run-around so badly.

I am so sorry the doctors are acting that way. I agree that you should see if they can do a sleep study. If the hospital saw his stats drop that night though I don't know why his doctor would think you were crazy. That is crazy. Maybe not the right word but all I could think of. The hospital records should show his stats dropped. I would for sure be calling the doctor and demanding they find out what is going on. That is unsat. KUP on how he is doing. Is his pnemonia better?
