So, Frederick is going on a little over 3 weeks for this croupy cough. I've heard of lingering cough that can take up to 2 weeks to go away, but over 3?? He's back on steroid medicine- prednisone for a few days to see if that will help him.

He coughs and coughs and of course, it's not helped much with his asthma.

Do you all have any recommendations? This is his third try with steroid/prednisone trying to get rid of it. They said it's all inflammed and stuff and that's why he keeps coughing.

We had to do prednisone, xopenex 1.25 every 2 hours, and pulmicort .5 every 8 hours before Danny's would go away. And even that took two weeks on the treatments...round the clock, then adding in the prednisone. Call the asthma doc about his neb dosages and see if the times can be increased. It sounds like he either needs a stronger dose or more frequent treatments on the neb to boost the healing.

Those are pretty high dosages in the neb but he has been on them since before he was even 2 years old... If Frederick is on lower dosages I would really push for something stronger... Have they mentioned anything about an inhaler for preventative measures yet?

I called his asthma doctor and they can't do anything unless I bring him in. So I'm bringing him in tomorrow at 2 pm. Keep your fingers crossed? They said it's definitely not natural that he's been coughing still.

My mom said it could be broncolitis? Or RA?

Jeremy used to get bronchitis but his came with a fever usually. But it would linger longer than the normal cough and sounded terrible. I agree they might need to up his dosage or more frequent treatments to try to get on top of the cough. Need to get that gunk cleared out. I hope they can do something for him. Poor guy being sick for 3 weeks is just no fun.
