My 20 month old was diagnosed with Hayfever at 18 months which I was told by my Peditirician they usually wait until 2 full seasons for diagnoses but with A.J's history with food/environmental (cat and dog) allergies and Asthma there was no surprise he has it.

Last week I planted 8 Mums plants and that same day my daughter had a bit of eye allergies and then 4 days later A.J was effected but much more then my daughter. Constant eye gunk, runny nose, and cough. I plan on taking the mum plants out of my garden but in the mean time I don't know what to do to calm down his eyes.. A.J is already on Flovent, Flonase, Singular, and Claritin (changed from zyrtec). I gave him some benadryl but do you think he should be on some eye drops? I plan on calling the Ped tomorrow..

Does your LO suffer from eye allergies? If so, what do you give? Any input would be greatly appreciated..

Edit to add: His eyes are not pink (like Pink eye) but slightly red but super puffy and the gunky is yellowish in color.. I've read gunky eyes could mean ear infection, but A.J has tubes in his ears and there's no ear drainage so I doubt it's an ear infection.. I'm learning towards a mum allergy.. And my son was not outside by the flowers until yesterday..

We don't really have eye allergies. I had a couple mornings after windows were left open that Jeremy's eyes itched but nothing to crazy. I would think the benedryl would help. Let us know what the ped said. Sorry you have to take your mums out of your garden. I bet they were beautiful.

Thanks Jess..

I decided not to take him into the doctors office. The benadryl seemed to help. I just pulled the mums out and the next day it cleared up.. So at least I know the culprit.. Glad it was an easy fix..

Well, A.J is still having a bit of eye allergies.. I called our Ped and since A.J is so young there's nothing recommended for his eyes.. Just warm compresses.. They also said this time of year is bad for allergies..

It just seems like my lil man never gets a break..

Update:

When I made this post, it seemed like everyone I know with allergies was being affected by something in the air.. Mostly cough and itch eyes.. Which A.J had.. Since it warmed up and the pollen is not so bad he has been doing fine.. He gets watery eyes outside but no crusties..
