I think it's bronchitis. If it is this will be the 6th time she's had it in 9 months. We've spent the past 2 nights giving her every 4 hour abuterol treatments. If she's not better in 3 hours she's going to the dr where they'll prob admit her again I've literally been hugging on her, sucking her nose, trying to keep her from screaming and choking since 12:30 am. It's now 5 hours later and I am exhausted! Everytime she coughs though I can hear that it's gone down into her chest
Poor thing! Bronchitis is rough on me as an adult, I hate when the little ones have to suffer with it. DS always looked so confused, like what is my body doing to me? I hope she gets to feeling better soon.
To help with suctioning her, have you tried Simply Saline nasal spray? It's not meds, just saline, but it helps loosen up everything so suctioning is easier. It tastes horrible when it goes down the back of your throat, but it helps a lot. They have a baby version.
Do not sorrow; the joy of the Lord is your strength." Neh. 8:10
Well it's not bronchitis. She has croup. We were given some oral steroids cause she's struggling to breathe. We're to continue the breathing treatments every 4-6 hours and if she gets bad tonight I'm supposed to take her out in the cool air for about 5 minutes
I know what you are going through. We had some of the worst nights with my son when he was younger. I remember when he was in the hospital last (I think he was 3) and on the second night my husband stayed with him and he couldn't breath at all and they ended up having to hold him down and suck his nose out with one of the baby aspirator's. He was so mad! My daughter is 2yo now and I have a bad feeling she is starting like him. We all have terrible Allergies and my son so far is the only one with Asthma right now! My husband was bad with Asthma when he was little but has taken Allergy shots for awhile and doesn't have any more problems with the Asthma. Good Luck!
