It's horible trying to get my son to take his medison. He runs away, cries and even tries to hold his breath when taking the medison. I've tried playing games, reading, explaining and yes even yelling NOTHING seems to work. He was fine with it when he was sick but now He'd rather clean his room or take a nap. I don't want to fight..... HELP
My son hated taking his nose sprays when he was younger and wasn't too wild about using his nebulizer either. My mom bought a cardboard treasure chest and filled it with little cheapie toys, erasers, plastic coins, etc., plus a few nice things. If DS took his meds without giving us trouble, he got to go on a treasure hunt to find the chest and choose one thing from it. After a while, he got used to taking his meds and now we only have to pull out the chest every once in a while. It was a lifesaver.
Do not sorrow; the joy of the Lord is your strength." Neh. 8:10
It used to be hard to get Alexis to take her meds too. I started allowing her to only have juice if she would take her meds. She would want the juice so badly that she would actually ask to take her meds!!! The treasure chest idea sounds like a good idea too. Or maybe no TV until after meds are taken?
