I just got a BFP on Monday, which was a bit of a surprise. We were trying but I'd only had one PPAF so I didn't think the chances were high, but I guess we got lucky.

Anyway, the advice nurse I talked to said I need to wean Lily immediately because the new baby needs the nutrition. Lily only nurses 3-4x a day now and she'll be one next week.

From what I've read this is outdated advice and it is fine to continue to nurse. But can anyone post any stories/advice/anything about breastfeeding while pregnant for me?

I continued to breastfeed Abigail while I was pregnant with Anna, without causing any problems in my pregnancy. Have you looked at Kellymom's information on breastfeeding while pregnant?
kellymom.com :: Nursing During Pregnancy & Tandem Nursing
From LLLI.org: LLLI | Breastfeeding During Pregnancy

The nurse at my first appointment told me the same thing, she also said my milk no longer had any nutritional value now that I was pregnant

Congratulations on your new BFP!!

Yes that info is out of date. (Actually I don't think there has ever been medical backing for that claim.) Anyway, check out our sticky about more information on being pregnant while nursing. (It's in my siggie too.)

Cheers!

I nused Audrey while I was pg with Sammie and had no problems either. You should ask your nurse how moms become tandem nursers if they must wean while pg

I think it should be a personal choice. The isn't any info that says nursing will cause any problems but it's something that you should decided to do or not based on your personal situation.

You might also want to read Adventures in Tandem Nursing - it talks alot about nursing while pg.

the information sticky also mentions this book. I have it and I think it's great for any nursing mom thinking about getting pregnant, pregnant or having two nursing kids around. If you feel you can't give this book to yourself, maybe you can borrow it from your LLL group.

Cheers!
