I have been bfing Cam for 14.5 months. She is my longest nurser so far! Anyways, lately she has been sick A LOT and I can always tell when she is getting sick again because she nurses more than she eats solids. She has definitely upped my supply because I am getting engorged and havent had that in months. She has gone from nursing 3-4 times a day to nursing when ever she wants to, about 6-7 times a day/night. My question is though, is this normal? Is it normal for her to increase her nursing that much when she isnt feeling well? I know it may sound like a dumb question, but I dont know. I figured it could be for comfort, but I have noticed that she isnt eating as much and I dont want her to lose any weight. Thanks for your help!

Not only is it normal but it's what she should be doing. She is getting the antibodies and immunities from you to help her get over her sickness. She will probably get well faster then if she wasn't breastfeeding at all. Nursing may help sooth her tummy too and it's always a comfort when they are sick.

not eating as much makes sense when a-she is getting more calories from you, and b-she isn't feeling well. Don't you eat less when you feel crappy? I know I do. but she is making up for it by nursing.

sounds like she is doing EXACTLY what she should be!
