i'm still nursing my 23 month old morning and night. he caught a nasty stomach bug from DH. he was projectile vomiting for 30 hours, and now he has diarrhea. yesterday he couldn't even keep water down. since he hadn't thrown up since 10pm, i nursed him this morning (only after sitting with him for 2 hours and giving him a tbsp of water every 5 min per his pedi's advice). he fell asleep afterward. i guess my question is whether you should try to nurse through it even when baby/toddler is throwing everything up?

I just noticed that date of this post but thought I'd reply anyways.

Definitely keep nursing!!! It's the best thing for them and will help with the dehydration. They may throw it back up but at least it's something. I don't even bother with pedialite (sp?) if I'm home since I know she'll get every nurtient she needs from nursing. I only give it if I won't be there to nurse her. We just came through that same nasty stomach flu and nursing was the only thing she was living on since even water was coming up.
