Quick introduction My name is Maren my son Zaiden is 13 months and happily nursing still. I feel like im not making enough milk especially while im away from him. I go to school 4 days a week 10 hour days. He is at daycare while im gone. I have been pumping once while at school then once after i pick the kids up from daycare which gives me a total of 5-10oz average being 8oz. Daycare gives my son 8-10oz a day and i have to use a freezer bag at least once a week to keep it so he has only had BM. I just started to take 6 fenugreek pills a day for the past couple days im going to start drinking more water see if that helps any. And im going to try and get 2 pumps in while im at school. Anyone have any tips! How much milk should a 13 month old be getting?

I can't give you ounce amounts, but my son is also 13 months. I don't pump while at work (I work 6 days on, 3 days off 3p-11p), but BF him about 4-7 times during the hours I'm home. When I'm gone he drinks water, a LITTLE juice, but no cow's milk because it bothers his tummy. We give him two yogurts a day when I'm gone.

I have days where I feel like I'm not making enough...but I just try to BF him as much as I can when I'm around. I know that supply can decrease with sickness, etc., and I just try to ride out those times.

Is he eating solids well? My son doesn't eat much food in the mornings when I'm home because he BFs more. Then when I'm gone he eats his solids and drinks other liquids. I'm guessing if he eats foods, he should be just fine. From all that I've read from other moms who BF long-term and also work full-time, things will work themselves out naturally.

When I need a boost, I use oatmeal. As far as I know (I'm no expert), increasing water intake won't increase your milk, but if you don't get enough water, your body wouldn't make as much milk.

My post seems all over the place, but I guess the bottom line is if he seems content and is growing all is well. The other thing is, at this age, the recommended amount of cow's milk for a child that eats solids is 16-24 oz. So I'm sure if he eats solids, he would be fine on 16 oz of BM a day...it's good stuff!

Anyway, like I said I'm no expert, just going by what I've read/learned along the way!
