Hey,
My baby is 13mos old and we're still bf-ing a good 2x (sometimes 3x /day). I've been charting for the last month b/c my cm is getting to that very fertile stuff so I know something is going on. My question is how many of you had your ppaf before you weaned? What was it like (heavier/lighter than normal)? Did your baby react to any changing of taste ? Did you notice a change in supply? So far, he's the longest I've nursed ... our first (11yo) I nursed till she was 13 mos old exactly and it was only after I completely weaned that ppaf showed. I'm thinking it may not be like that this time. I actually am thinking I might O first this time... that has NEVER happened to me before! Anyway, thanks for answering my questions. :-)

I never had problems with my period and breastfeeding. With my second daughter, things were a little more irregular. Mostly my cycle lengths, they would be anywhere from 28-35 days, so it was a little unpredictable, but not bad. My periods where there the same as before though, not heavier or lighter and I never had a decrease in my supply. Every woman is different though, and you really won't know until it happens.

Thanks so much! I had heard from some of my friends (IRL) that their supply decreased and their babies decided to wean once their AF returned. I was really hoping to continue nursing even after AF returned so I just needed to hear that side of the story. Your story is very reassuring. I hope he doesn't want to quit nursing anytime soon! :-)

I had my first PPAF when DD was about 14 months. I noticed that I had sore nipples and a slightly decreased supply during the normal PMS time. The first few AFs were awful in terms of flow and cramps but then it wasn't as bad, just very irregular. DD didn't seem to notice any change in taste though she did act a little crankier than usual (as did I!) which I attribute to the slightly lower supply. It certainly didn't stop her nursing though! She's still going strong at 2 1/2 and I'm 8 months pregnant with #2

(I'm not nursing past 1 year YET, but lurking )

My AF came when DD was 4 1/2 months old Despite EBFing at home and pumping every 2-3 hours at work. My supply seemed a bit lower just before and at the beginning of AF, but I don't think there was a hugely noticeable change. My cycle length is slightly irregular, I used to be like clockwork every 28 days (well the part of my life when I wasn't on BC). Now it ranges from 28-32 days. The flow isn't any worse than before I got pregnant though. I think it's something that is different for everyone.
