i am still nursing my 19 month old son and pregnant so not sure if it has anything to do with that or not but i thought i had a cracked nipple. anyways it has now been two and a half weeks and its not a crack..its a hole. it hurts so bad i get light headed when he latches on. ive tried salt water soaks, coating it in lanolin cream, airing it out when i can (hard because im a sahm and if he sees it he wants it) its so painful to the point i dont want to nurse anymore but i refuse to give up. i believe in child led weaning so i want to keep going but i dread when he wants to nurse. any tips or ideas on how i can get it to heal? im about to go to the dr to see if there is some other sort of cream i can use or something because two and a half weeks of this pain and im not sure how much more i can take.

thank you!

also its on the right side which he favors, ive tried nursing on just he left side and he will at first but its not what he wants so i just give in and let him have the right side and it hurts so so bad.

have you tried neosporin? just wipe it off prior to the feeding. Triple nipple cream/all purpose nipple ointment would be the best, but it is script only from a compounding pharmacy. My midwife gave me a script. I had a milk blister, that once it was resolved turned into a hole and was very painful. The only thing that relieved it was putting the nipple cream on 24/7 for 2 weeks, which does have neosporin in it i believe. Do you think it could possibly be thrush?

Hi! Congrats on not only being preggers, but continuing to nurse while pregnant. Liquid silver is safe to take while pregnant/nursing...I prefer the brand "Smart Silver". Also check your zinc levels; if you're low your body will not heal as efficiently! Not sure if you're going with an OB, midwife, etc. but even some chiropractors are quite well versed in nutrition and may be able to assist you re: zinc during pregnancy, and may carry the silver as well. HTH.
