An introduction and a problem all in one post. I'm Chris mom to 4 girls. My youngest daughter is 19 months old and is still breastfeeding several times a day. I practiced child led weaning with my other children and plan to do the same with my youngest.

Starting about a month or so ago I noticed that my daughter's top teeth were rubbing against my breast as she nursed. I tried several times to reposition her, tell her to open wider, but really when i look down my entire arieola is in her mouth. I can see her jaw moving, hear her swallowing so i know she is actively nursing, her teeth are just pressing really hard into me while it's going on. Well they pressed so hard for so long that about a week ago they actually punctured through the skin. So now i have open teeth mark wounds on my left breast.

I should say that she has a very strong suck. And for some reason likes to use this strong suck on my left breast. The right one gets the nice gentle sucks. I've tried nursing first on the right, so the milk let's down and she doesn't have to suck as hard on the left, but she still sucks like a hoover vac. Same thing if i start her out first on the left breast, big time sucking action.

She loves to nurse so much, and I'd hate to take it away from her. But it hurts so bad that i'm crying while she's feeding. Right now i'm avoiding nursing off the left breast unless I absolutely have to.

i have spoken to them. They gave me several links to look up, but nothing really seemed to apply to my situation.

Does she have all her molars? My girl had such a strong suck when hers were coming in. I have the problem with the front teeth hurting too. I usually just cut her off when it starts hurting more. I give her a warning when I first start feeling it and then when it gets worse i say that the boob is done. She accepts it now but it took few times of yanking it out of her mouth.
