question for tandem nursers

the last three times i've been pregnant (including a loss in '08), i have not had the "sore boobs"symptom. i assume that it's because i am breastfeeding, but i don't quite understand it. i'm not the only nurser in my new DDC, and one lady said that she wasn't feeling much breast pain because she was still nursing. did you get it at all, when you discovered you were pregnant while nursing? i wonder why this is- does anyone know? i don't even know how to look that one up.

Hi there. I don't typically post in here but here I am!!

When i was preg with ds I was still nursing dd and my boobs didn't get as sensitive as they did when I was preg with dd. Having said that, around 6 months preg nursing got rather uncomfortable as I think my milk was drying up. DD was a trooper though and nursed right though it, changing her suckling (because she wasn't getting much) and the pain lessened. (As did the frequency of the nursings!!) When dd was born and my milk came it I actually had to do some latch training with her because her suck had gotten so poor.

Wow! Congrats on another love! I don't make my way over here that much anymore so I had not seen your surprise pregnancy!

When I nursed Leila throughout Owen's pregnancy I was miserable a lot of the time. It was hell for me. However, this time around I have very little of that same pain. Don't know why but I am not complaining!! I don't think we will make it to tandem nursing because of many reasons but for the time he continues it isn't so miserable. I think it just all depends on hormones and perhaps the baby's latch, etc.

My breasts have not been nearly as sensitive with my 3rd pregnancy (currently 16 weeks) than they were the first and second pregnancy.

I dont remember breast pain but my nipples hurt. It was pretty bad at first but got slightly better and then somewhat better towards the end. Latching on would make my toes curl but thankfully it was short lived.

thanks girls, and danke for the congrats, jen. i def remember you, and sorry to see you've changed your screenname-- i know how tough that its-- missy went for 41 months, and nick is at 18 months, but my nipples hurt soooo bad that i want to stop, truly.

Same here, it didn't seem like my breasts hurt, but my nipples were really sensitive both times.

Hey Jaq!

I came on looking for tandem info and saw your post. At 33 weeks it's apparent Christian is not giving up his ninnie time. I had extraordinary pain during the First 2 trimesters. It was always in the nipple. I think it was from drying up. I have no milk right now. Christian has finally changed his latch to more of a suckling. But omg for awhile I would cuss for the first 60 seconds of latch. I just couldn't help it. The pain brought tears to my eyes. It's better now. Although if the pain gets to bad on one side block Duckie from it for a bit. It really helps. I would put 2 bandaids on the one that hurt worse so he wouldn't fight me so badly to have it. Good luck!! Hope it gets better quickly.
