My name is Carin and my DD is 16 months old. My DH is taking her and my DS to see their great grandpa for about 5 days. I cannot go because I am in school. It was a battle to get my DD to breastfeed because she has special needs and I want her to continue to BF when she gets back. Do you all think that she would lose (or forget how) her latch from the separation or will she remember and jump right back on when she gets back home? If there is anything that would keep her latch going while she is gone please also offer that advice as well. I have a pump I will use as I EPed for the first 6.5 months of our BFing experience. Any help would be appreciated.
i would think for 5 days she should be ok, but i would make sure she is not getting a bottle or a paci, but i think she should be ok and if there are any issues upon her return, i would see your La Leche or a LC to help get her to latch again.
I just wanted to update you all. I actually went to Ohio with them and was only away from her for a couple days. It was a last minute decision but I am glad I went, so we continue on with our BFing journey
