DD will be a year next month

She has little to no interest in foods. She eats what we eat, she wants nothing to do with that mushed up junk.

When she went for the 6 month check up her ped told me she needed to eat solids, but I wasn't going to force them.

As we approach that 1 year mark I wonder how to get her to eat food and how important it really is. Does she need to eat three solid meals a day? Or is nursing more important?

I personally dont think solids are all that important if your child is otherwise thriving. My older went on a food strike between 15 and 18 months and did fine with it. As for the little peanut, she is almost 18 months and I'm still waiting for her to get interested in food. I may offer her one meal a day and then handful of random snacks. I just didnt want to make the fuss with making her meals x times a day just to have her refuse/make a mess. I'm a bit of a snacker myself so it isnt an easy option of making food for both of us (which I probably should do regardles but ugh).

I remember the 8 month check up with my older where the doc said that she should be eating at least 2x a day because she was 8 months. I thought and still think that that is a stupid reason. All kids mature at a different pace. I believe that there will be a time when my picky eater will start eating more food and nurse less.

My dd is 9 months and barely eating food. She nurses a little every hour though and then has some big nursing sessions where she eats for a long time. Her weight is increasing nicely. She's in 18-24 month cloths and around 23 lbs. so I think she's doing fine. Lol

Thanks. I've read different ends of it and wasn't sure. She snacks, gerber stuff and goldfish!

Right now she doesn't seem to nurse much. She power nurses in the morning and maybe 5x during the day and usually sleeps all night. She seems fine...wait she is fine, lol. Her 9 month check she was 20 something pounds and is wearing 18 month clothing.

I feel the Dr puts a lot of pressure on food, for iron. But then I read BM is all she really needs. People need to get on the same page with stuff!

Heh your daughter seems to be about the same weight in her 9 month check up as mine was in her 15 month. I think we're still using some of the 9 month clothing and barely getting into the 18 month stuff.
