Do you ever get together with your family and DH's family at the same time? How does everyone get along?

Not with both of our families at the same time - being from places that are 1000 miles apart makes that quite a task. That said, we do get together with dh's family somewhat often, and when we're in Ontario we usually have at least one big get together with everyone.

I think our families would get along fine, for the most part.

Not often. And not if I can help it. They're just too different, and my inlaws have the social grace of well...I'll stop there because it's just too impolite to say.

We dont do family gatherings often.

His family is all over the place and not very close so it doesnt happen.
My family hasnt gotten all together since my grandfathers funeral back in July 2009.
We just have different schedules and such, makes it impossible plus my DH doesnt care for my sisters LOL so he avoids it if possible.

When together we do just fine despite him not caring for my sisters but still...just never seems to happen.

We rarely do, except the kids bday or a big bday part for one of us. Both sides get along great.

Not really only because no one's house can contain us all, we'd have to rent a hall!

The times when there has been both sides, its gone great

We've only ever done it once or twice and each time has been a total disaster. Mostly because my "mother" thinks she's better than everyone else and tells people that out right.

It happens all the time, we have quite a few birthday celebrations. Dh's parents and mine were friends before we ever got together and dh's sister is friends with both my sister in laws.
