Wont watch the show but have seen commercials for it.

Ridiculous. I enjoy many shows on TLC but Im fearing they are gonna head the way of stupidity if they keep doing shows like that.

Yeah - I have only watched the commercials myself, but I can't stand reality tv in general. Least of all any that mock people for any reason. I can't even stand most game shows anymore.

No matter what you would or wouldn't think of the people in that show, I think it's abhorrent that a network is thriving off of this passive aggressive bullying kind of business strategy. They put people on tv who would ordinarily fly under a radar and live content and average lives, because they are different from "everyone else's superiority", and gawkable. I worry what that will do to the child in the long run. It can't be healthy. And if toddlers and tiaras like pageants weren't unhealthy enough, having her own show where she can be scrutinized by every wandering eye is even less so. That poor kid.
sfarrow3 and Keakie like this.

We don't have cable either, though I've seen part of an episode online. I just can't... I have a couple guilty pleasure reality shows that I'll watch, but they're things like Real Housewives where I can just drink a glass of wine and snark on them without feeling badly about it.

Delusional and self-absorbed, with a dash of crazy? Sure.

The family on Honey Boo Boo, though - I dunno. I feel like they're just genuine, simple people who don't realize that they're being made fun of. Most of them are children, and the adults just don't seem intelligent enough to really get what TLC is doing with them.

We don't have it here but I have seen bits of pieces on youtube.

I felt for the family actually, it just came across as a show to openly mock them, like, "Look at the simple people, look how silly their lives are" I felt really uncomfortable watching it.
