How handy is your husband? How does he feel if you need to hire out to have something fixed?

DH is super handy. He hates to hire out (he's super cheap, lol) so we save a lot of money. On one hand, it's great; on the other hand, it's difficult when he doesn't have time or procrastinates and then we are waiting forever for him to get it done.

he's not handy at all, I could and should pay out most of the work that needs done, but I don't. Why can't the man read an instruction manual???

He's very handy. Every time I walk past him he.... oh not that kind of handy.

He's pretty good. Especially at putting things together. Then again he does it for a living so he kind of has to be.

Marie, they don't read the manual because they think they know better than whoever designed it.

He's pretty handy, but luckily knows his limitations and when to ask for help (most of the time )

We also have a lot of friends in trades so he'll usually be able to ask them to do stuff, and then learn it for next time.

I'm slightly jealous over here of you ladies with handy men! Mine isn't handy at all, but he refuses to ask for help ugggh...so I am free to hire anyone I need to fix anything, or I can ask my step dad to come and fix something, but God forbid if he should have to admit that a) he's not handy and b) that he's lazy.

I've never ventured into this board before, so this is my first post here lol

My husband is VERY Handy - in more ways than one We almost never hire out, unless the job is bigger than we can do on our own. Like when we had a garage built. We ordered a complete pole barn kit for it and hired a local crew who needed the work to build it.

But all the small fix it stuff, either he or I can do it. We do a lot of wood working stuff together, too.

I love that we don't have to hire out. I want to faint at the cost of some things that I'd hate to see the cost of labor on top of it. He'll tell me sex would be good to pay him for his work, I tell him me feeding him is enough haha

He's quite handy and what he really doesnt have expertise in he has enough machismo to get it figured out cuz heaven forbid he NOT have an answer or an ability to fix it LOL.

Right now he cant do as much as he used to but he definately knows how to fix things or can figure it out. Being a mechanic all those years helped I think.

I don't ever see us hiring out. If he can't do it then one of our dads or his brother can.

My dh is really handy in a few areas, he's very mechanically inclined, fixing things, electrical stuff, welding. He's good with bigger stuff in the house, but he's not very particular. We tend to do most things ourselves, but with a few things it's not worth the headache and we'd rather pay someone. We're getting someone to put our new baseboards on, because 1. dh hates it 2. he's not particular enough and 3. it will take him forever whereas someone that does them all the time will do them fast and well.

He is super handy. We are in the middle of remodeling our kids bathroom and he took it down the studs and no floor. He put it back together and we have done everything but sodering new pipes for the shower. I got so lucky..he builds / repairs cars, builds repairs homes and everything in between!
