My 5 month old has always used her infant car seat but she is getting bigger and even though she can still use it, probably for another 2 months or so.. I am thinking about switching to the convertible car seat already. She is in the weight range.. And obviously it would still be rear facing.. But I am wondering if the infant seat is safer for any reason? When do you typically make the switch?
I am wanting to do this because it would give her more room.. We are going on an 8 hour car ride this weekend and I think she might be more comfortable in the bigger one.
I switched to a convertible car seat when my son was about 6 months old or so. I don't think one is really safer than the other; I just knew it was time. My son has always been on the bigger & taller side so when he started to look too big for the baby seat & it started to get too heavy to carry around I switched him.
