KUP. I was told that our Fertility Clinic will work around your schedule, it doesn't matter if it's a holiday, weekend whatever. KUP. I hope it works out for you this cycle.

IUI w/ Femara Cycle 1

Called to get my Femara and schedule my follicle study (u/s) for my first IUI cycle today. I wanted to talk to my nurse, as I have a few questions regarding timing of the IUI, but she wan't available. I'm just going to assume they will do what needs to be done timing-wise. I take 5 mg (2 pills) of the Femara for 5 days starting today. Femara is quite expensive, btw. Much more so than Clomid. And even more so since my doc has me on double the common starting dose. It tends to have fewer side effects and doesn't dry up CM or thin your lining like Clomid can, though. We can afford it, so I'm not going to complain, at least not yet.

My u/s to check my follicles will be on CD 13, next Thursday morning. I am really hoping my IUI will be Friday, but it's much more likely that it will fall in the middle of our planned trip. Sucks, but we will do what we have to do.

Money saving Tip!! I posted this a looooong time ago. If you go to walgreens and sign up for their club card thingy, you pay i think 25 bucks per individual one time fee but they do promos all the time where it is only 10 or 5, and then you get HUGE discounts on meds for a year. Femara goes from 103 at mine to 43 bucks for a 2mg a day dosage for 5 days.

Great news about doing your first IUI this cycle Jenny, sucks about the drug costs but hopefully the benefits of Femera over Clomid will be worth it

I'll be stalking your cycle this time round...hopefully your U/s next week will show lots of good follies!

I've taken 4 of 5 doses of the Femara, and I totally feel something happening in my left ovary. I have had a dull ache, kinda like O pain, but not - something I've never felt before - all day today. I also think this stuff is wiping me out. I have gotten more sleep than usual this week, but have been exhausted by mid afternoon. I've had a little nausea too, but the metformin does that sometimes too. All in all, I'd say pretty minimal side effects, especially for being on a higher dose.

I've been reading that many women have O'd much earlier on Femara, so I'm going to start opks and BD on like, CD8, I think. My follie check isn't until CD12, but I'll call them if I get a +opk before that. I did NOT spend $125 on pills to miss my chance!

That's a good idea Jenny. You do not want to miss your opportunity! I don't think there is anything wrong with getting more sleep .

Glad to hear its goin well with the femera with minimal side effects, its interesting that you can feel something going on with your left ovary, hopefully that's a good sign! I agree that the early OPKs and BDing is a good call, like you and dawn said, you really don't wana miss your chance this cycle!

Ah, the part of the cycle when I'm filled with hope and excitement

Started opking today. Nothing else TTC related really going on. My allergies have hit pretty bad, and I'm trying (successfully so far) not to take my Claritin as I worry about it's effects on TTC. It's pretty annoying to suffer when I know the medicine would help though I'm also cutting caffeine even farther back - aiming for one half caff coffee in the morning and that's it. I was having a full caff and a caffeinated pop with lunch. I'd like to get to none, but man, I have to work so early!

I should note that I added B6 (50 mg) this cycle. I'm not thrilled with my pre-AF spotting and am worried that it might be a bit of an LP defect. I also ordered some progesterone cream for after O, because, well, I just really want this to work and I'm willing to try anything!

Don't forget to take a B12 with a B6 but adding the vitamin B should help with energy

IUI this afternoon

Apparently, I just ovulated. Like, it's happening now. I can't remember the exact number, but I think she said the follicle was like, 2.5 cm, which she said was perfect. Lining was, I think, 12 mm, and they want at least 6, so also great.

She did see one potential problem. I may have a polyp, which can interfere with implantation. This would explain why we're having such trouble in spite of regular ovulation and good sperm. She asked about clotting during my period, which I have always had and assumed was normal. Apparently, that is NOT normal, and may indicate a polyp. So, if this cycle doesn't work, we will do an SHG in combination with my follicle study around CD11 next cycle. They can't do it now, because it could interfere with a possible pregnancy.

So, DH will be come home soon and give his sample, and I will bring it in around 1 for my first IUI!

That's great news (apart from the polyp part) I hope this afternoons procedure goes well! It seems to have come around so quick, I'm so excited for you

Interesting about the polyp and clotting, I always thught it was normal too. I assume its something they would have picked up during my HSG but now I dunno, had anyne mentioned you having one before?

for you and DH today
