I have been putting off starting one of these, because I kept telling myself that I would be pregnant soon enough and wouldn't need a TTC journal. Well, after a year of TTC and a miscarriage last cycle, I have finally decided to go ahead and start one. I still hope it doesn't get very long though

I am Jenny, I'm 29 now, and my husband, Scott, is 35. We were married in Las Vegas on December 10, 2008. I was in a very bad marriage right after college, and that experience makes me appreciate Scott even more every day. We live in Iowa, and have a 5 year old Miniature Pinscher, Max, and 2 cats - Sammy and Buddy. I work in biotechnology, and Scott co-owns a trim carpentry/painting company. We are huge sports fans, and spend our summers camping and boating.

We have not used any form of birth control since we got married, and started actively TTC (temping, opks) in January 2011. After a long year of BFNs, we started some fertility testing in January 2012. Scott's SA was good - slightly low motility and slightly high pH, but we were told it wasn't bad enough to affect fertility. I was diagnosed with PCOS on Feb. 1, and prescribed metformin. I wasn't convinced that the diagnosis was accurate, and wanted to discuss my test results with my doctor in person before starting the metformin. I didn't get the chance to do so, however, as I got my first ever BFP on Feb. 5.

Unfortunately, my first pregnancy ended in my first miscarriage at 6 weeks. On Feb. 21, I started spotting. I went in for an u/s, which showed a sac measuring only 4w3d The spotting quickly turned into bleeding, and by Feb. 24, my hcg was down to 135. I cried for two whole days, and am still going through the grieving process, but we do want to get right back to TTC. So, here I am, on CD 6, wondering when I will O, hoping to catch the window of elevated fertility that I hear can follow a miscarriage.

I'm glad you started a journal. Mine has really helped me. I've heard that window of increased fertility can last for six months, so I hope you catch it and that your rainbow baby will be here soon!

Hey Jenny - glad you finally started a journal! I was around for quite a while, I think about a year, before I started a journal myself. I'm not great about updating it, but I've been better about it lately. It's super helpful, for many reasons.

Sorry you're starting a TTC journal, Jenny, but glad you'll have a place to vent your frustrations and document your journey. Good luck in catching that eggy. Hope you have a super-sticky BFP soon.

Sorry you had to start a journal but it's very therapeutic. I hope being very fertile after a miscarriage holds true for you and you get sticky BPF right away.

My test results congratulating me on my pregnancy, my belly bands, and my maternity pillow all arrived on the day I learned I was possibly miscarrying. It sucks!

You know, I should also add the following: before I m/c, I was about 7 weeks. I had signed up for a bunch of crap online. Not really on purpose, but more like pregnancy trackers, etc. I still get stuff in the mail and email. Right around my EDD, I got a ton of coupons in the mail. Then about a month after my EDD, I got a can of similac formula in the mail. Now, I'm getting stuff about picture books, and other keepsake things to order for "baby". It's been almost a year, and this stuff keeps coming, no matter how hard I try and unsubscribe, and delete myself from mailing lists. UGH!

Thanks guys. I have a hidden spot in my closet where I'm stashing all the pregnancy/baby stuff I already got. I just keep telling myself that I WILL need it eventually...

We are leaving for Phoenix tonight! We are surprising my grandpa for his 80th birthday. They have wanted us to visit for years, so we're finally doing it. Of course, my excitement is tempered by the fact that I won't be getting to tell them about the pregnancy as I had planned It seems like everything I do lately has that caveat...It will be nice timing for a getaway though, and I won't have to see the girl at work who is about to give birth until next week. Hopefully she's already on leave by then. Our flight doesn't leave until 8 pm, so I will be spending the day packing for me, Scott and the dog (he's staying with my parents).

Unfortunately, I think there will always be that caveat. And yes, you will need that pregnancy stuff again soon! I'm insisting it! Your uterus should have gotten the memo already.

I hope that you enjoy your visit with your grandfather. I found that my recent trip was just what I needed to get myself into a better frame of mind. I hope that this trip does that for you!

I did the exact same thing and made a couple of purchases that ended up stashing away to only end up giving to my sister!

I have a great vacation. I'm sorry you couldn't go with better news but it sounds like perfect timing for a get away.

Btw...as I'm typing this, I saw I got a text asking if we wanted or knows anyone who wants boys clothes..it never ends.

I'm back! I decided to stay off JM while we were in Arizona, so I'm trying to catch up now. We had a great trip. My grandparents really loved having us there. They live in a retirement community that is really pretty nice - lots of amenities/activities. After we got the tour on Wednesday, we took a scenic drive on the Apache Trail. My grandpa was a chemistry teacher and knows a lot about the geology and such of the area, so we had a great tour guide. On Thursday, we went to Tucson, where my aunt and uncle live. We went to Saguaro National Park and hung out on their amazing patio in the beautiful weather. On the way back to Phoenix on Friday, we stopped at a casino (Scott was the big winner). Later, we were able to meet up with a high school friend of mine that I haven't seen in years, so that was cool. After delicious grilled steaks for dinner, we played cards with grandma and grandpa. They taught us a game called 'hand and foot' that was really fun. The men won that night, but grandma and I won the rematch on Saturday night. Scott and I went to the zoo on Saturday morning. I've been to the San Diego and St. Louis zoos, so this one wasn't overly impressive for me. There was a neat exhibit where you were literally in the cage with the squirrel monkeys. Like, they could jump on your head if the keepers would let them. Pretty cool! Saturday afternoon was the surprise party for grandpa. Scott and I were in charge of getting him to the party, and it worked out really well. He was totally surprised! Before we left on Sunday, we had lunch at a really cool restaurant that has been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives - Joe's Farm Grill. It's literally on a farm where they grow many of their ingredients. Great food and beautiful setting! Arrived back last night to snow and icy roads. Boo.

I didn't temp or anything while on our trip. I did take an hpt the day we left and still had a faint line, so I should still have at least another week or so before I ovulate. We will start the BDing right away though, just in case. I was supposed to get another blood draw on Friday, but we were gone. I should go today, but I don't really feel like leaving the house. Maybe I'll go before work tomorrow. Or maybe I'll just skip it. I'm sure I'm at zero, so why waste my time? We'll see.

Alright, I'm going to try to catch up on what's going on with everyone. Thanks for reading my way too long post!

glad you had a great trip! Sounds like your hCG is almost down. Hopefully it zeroes out soon! My OB said to expect ovulation about 2 weeks after your hCG goes down to 0.
