Cycle # 23????, s/p lap sx

I met with RE today for my post-op f/u and to discuss the next steps. We discussed the lap sx and the pathology report. I informed him that I'm still having pain and that I remain on 800mg of ibuprofen every 8 hours. He said that I should start having less pain by the end of this week. I should begin resuming normal activities as my body tolerates them. I still don't think I will resume jogging and intense cardio until next week. RE thinks that my endo is not likely to return for awhile as I was in the early stages of endo.

So our next steps are: This cycle, natural, as I'm still healing from lap sx. Next cycle, medicated with femara (I was on clomid before, but RE switched me to femara as it is supposed to work better for those women with endo) and HCG shot. Oh and supposedly femara is expensive, like $100 for 5 pills, that sucks! The following cycle, femara, hcg shot and IUI and then next cycle long (endo) protocol FET. So, long protocol for FET is where I take bcp for 8 weeks overlapping it with lupron before FET. According to RE (and he is the best RE in Ohio) there are higher pregnancy rates for women with endo who stay on bcp for a longer period of time. Of course if this doesn't work, we will do natural for awhile and then onto second IVF, likely in 2014. Still hoping and praying that endo is the reason why we couldn't conceive and hopefully we'll conceive quickly.

I hope the pain goes away for you soon That sounds like a good plan but I am still keeping everything crossed that endo was the only thing standing in your way and you get your BFP soon!

Are you temping this cycle?

That is a good question Elle. I thought about temping, as this is my natural cycle. I've been MA since November, so I haven't temped since early December (as I take meds to induce O--hcg shot). This will be the only cycle where I won't be taking hcg shot to induce ovulation, so maybe. Honestly, I know my body so well that I don't need to. I can tell when I'm ovulating or not ovulating without the actual temping, as I've temped and have been trying for so long. So I will have to think about it...

Sounds like a good plan. I have my fingers crossed that the endo was all that was standing in your way and you get BFP before having to do the long protocol!

I havent posted here in a while! Its just too easy these days to send you a message on FB!

I'm glad the post op appt went well today and that your RE is on board with the plan you and DH wanted. He sounds really great and like he will work with you both, the best he can. Thats interesting that the femera is so much more expensive than clomid, I think I saw it mentioned before on the TTCMA board. It better be good right!

Hows your pain today? that alot of ibuprofen your still taking, its good to hear that your RE said it should be getting better shortly. I guess in one way, its good because it means your body is healing. Hopefully once healed youll get that beautiful BFP youve been working so hard far. You've had an intense 6 mos!

I'm with you on the temping, I dont really need to do it anymore to know when i;m ovulating. It's more of a belt and braces thing for me now. It just gives me that bit of control and reassurance I think. I am lazy and only do it to confirm O though, I give it up as soon as FF confirms lol.

I bet your excited for your trip this coming weekend, sounds like a busy one. Make sure you plan time for rests between activities, you dont wana be doing too much too soon. As least DH will be there to look after you though!

Actually, I mentioned the pain to RE and it has already started to go away. I took one ibuprofen at about 7:45 this morning and I haven't taken one since. I will probably take one before I go to bed, but maybe the pain is already starting to subside.

I will try to take your advice Jen, I always push myself too hard/too fast. DH always gets on me about this!

Hey I posted a Looooong time ago in a subforum about it, but if you get the walgreens prescription discount card for 25 bucks for a year it makes femara like 8 dollars for the 5 pills.

Thanks ladies for all of the support.

So AF this month has been rather short. Typically AF sticks around for 7 days or more (this includes spotting). I'm on day 6 and I have almost no spotting. I don't know if this is because I was on bcp for 4 1/2 weeks or due to the surgery or ???? This is going to be my only natural cycle for awhile--at least until October. I'm hoping that I ovulate this cycle. I didn't ovulate during my two short cycles after IVF. I'm pretty sure that I had cysts, as I could feel them and they are quite common after IVF. Bcp likely eliminated the cysts, plus RE would have seen the cysts during lap sx. I also saw a pic of my one ovary and there were no cysts. I'm not particularly hopeful that DH and I will conceive this month as I'm still recovering from lap sx and well, we have never been able to conceive... To be honest, I'm really scared that this surgery will have no impact on our fertility. I'm so hoping that it does and statistically it should increase our chances of getting pregnant, but I'm still scared, as I've tried everything...and nothing...Ok, enough feeling sorry for myself. I still have tons of hope that the surgery helped and that I will conceive! Just need to keep telling myself this!

*I* have hope for you today! I wonder if your full 7 days of flow were related to the endo?

I'm just going to be praying and hoping and praying and hoping every day for you!

That could be a possibility. The bad cramps during the beginning of my cycle are also likely from endo. Maybe I will never have cramps again! One can hope right!

Call them to double check but it was back in the end of 2010/beginning of 11. Clomid was also super cheap. It was pretty awesome. PS it was the generic version if that matters. ALSO if for some reason it doesn't cover it, you can walk in to any costco without membership and use their pharmacy and it shows that it costs 33 bucks for 30 pills so it would likely only be like 5 or 6 bucks for the 5 pills Again for the generic.

Today is DH and my anniversary! He truly is my love and best friend! He's been so supportive throughout this whole journey, and as you know we've been through a lot!

This afternoon/evening we drive to Pittsburgh to visit my parents. We'll spend the night and then drive to Philly on Friday. It will be nice to briefly see my parents and its great that they are watching Lilly. I'm looking forward to this weekend, though it's going to be colder than I anticipated. I'm going to a baptism on Saturday, hopefully I'll make it through without feeling sad. Some of DH's family know about us trying, his mom, dad, brother and sister-in-law, but that's it. I just hope none of his extended family start asking me, when are you guys having a baby, blah, blah, blah. I don't want to blow-up on anyone or start to cry. Hopefully that won't happen. I plan to hang with DH and his immediate family a lot, so I won't get those questions....Wish me luck!

Happy anniversary to you and your DH!

I hope no one asks you the dreaded B-question (B is for Baby). I feel like people ask us all the time, especially family. People started asking when we got married last July. This is a small town, so I've been asked in the bank, the grocery store...you name it.
