I agree, I hope it's still early! I received an invite for a baby shower recently too. Once I get pregnant, I won't receive one

Again, everything remains crossed for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cycle 23 - CD 4 (waiting for IVF consent)

So that's it for IUIs for us. Our consent signing is May 22nd (though I'm hoping we get a cancellation date before that since AF is due to arrive that day and it would be nice to have the paperwork done before she arrives so we can get started right away).

I'm feeling a bit down, I'll be honest. DH is not taking it well either. Neither of us thought it would come to IVF, and it's just such an added expense, with no guarentee. I am doing my best to be positive though! Thanks everyone for your support!! I'm going to leave JM for a little while to try and not think about it, but I'm sure I'll be back when I start the whole IVF process.

Thanks for checking in lately. I feel bad I've kind of given up JM lately, since I have had so much amazing support over the years here. I wish I could give it back, but I don't feel I have it in me.

IVF consent signing did not go well. Had all the paperwork done, deposit paid etc., but then I happened to mention I get migraines with aura (which was on my original file when I started going to the clinic over a year ago). The RE doesn't feel comfortable starting me on any IVF meds until I get an ok from a neurologist, since messing with your hormones can lead to an increased risk of stroke with people who get migraines with aura. I was livid that a) he hadn't checked my file to know this ages ago and b) that it only came up because I was asking about it (in relation to BC pills - but still). Wait time for a neurologist in my area - 7-10 months. It was a real kick in the gut. The idea that I can't get started on IVF for that long was kind of devastating. Kind of still trying to recover from that. That's the update on me.

Hope all you lovely ladies are doing well!

Oh Katie! I'm so sorry! That's horrible news. Will it really take 7-10 months to see a neurologist? Oh I wish you could cross the border and we could get you seen sooner. If you want to talk, pm me or fb me. Again, I'm so sorry. I wish I could say or do something to help.

Oh Katie I am so sorry I cant believe it will take 7 - 10 months to see a neurologist! Is there any chance you could pick up a cancelled appointment before then? Or is it possible to leave your area and go somewhere else for an appointment? (I am really not sure how that works)

Hi just swinging through and checking in. As far as neurologists go, my husband has neurological problems and as such, sees lots of neurologists. The trick to getting in faster is to call around and find one local that is a group, such as affiliated with a hospital rather than a single neuro practice. They usually have 2 week or so wait times. Other tricks are not worrying about what is covered by insurance as a consult rarely costs over 100-150 and if they want a test done, then do the test somewhere that is covered but at least you got in. Basically you call every single neurologist you can feasibly drive too around you and get on their new patient list and specifically request you get on their cancellations list as it is an urgent matter. Then be super good about answering your phone for random early morning calls lol. The best bet is to find a group practice though, usually again affiliated with a hospital. Good luck!!!

PS I at one point had migraines that always came after an aura and I saw my PCP about it and was even given a migraine med for it from him with no testing and no real worries. Think they would let you get cleared from a normal doc?

I'm so sorry to see this Katie. I too had no idea this was an issue (slightly concerning too since I also get migraines with aura, have done for years) and I cant believe that they never even picked up on it before now. I cant imagine how disappointed you and DH must feel.

Is it something another RE would be happy to manage during the treatment rather than making you wait to see a neurologist?

I think Crystal's advice is good though, call around and get your name / contact details known. Hopefully that will help get you in sooner.

Oh and we completely understand that you arent in the right place for JM now, please dont feel bad about it. We all still think about you and know that you will be a mummy

I was just thinking about you and wanted to check in and see if you were able to get anything figured out with the neurologist.
