Thank you! I spoke with my parents on the phone this evening and they are getting close to Atlanta. I'm going to try and meet them at their hotel this evening after class, and then I'll be at the hospital bright and early tomorrow AM to wait with Mom during the surgery. Turns out I have to babysit at 1:15pm but hopefully they will put the stint in and Dad will be in recovery before that. The surgery is only supposed to take an hour if all goes well. I figure he'll be in surgery from 8-10 so that'll be plenty of time.

Today I had to have that awkward talk with my advisor that I was hoping to escape...the you're-behind-and-turning-out-poor-quality-work-talk. Thank goodness if I just work really hard and well from here on out then I'll get back in their good graces. I found it so hard to WANT to do my work this semester. I blame it on getting off my mood stabilizer and the stress of TTC. It's so easy to put anything and everything before my studies when I start to get behind. The further behind I get the more I want to avoid it...then I get more behind... it's a terrible cycle.

I will definitely keep you ladies posted about Dad's stint operation tomorrow. I have a feeling it will be routine and no big deal.

KUP about your Dad! I'll keep him, you, and your mom in my thoughts tomorrow morning!

I totally know how it feels to get behind and out of your advisor's good graces. It's not a fun talk to have. Please let us know what WE can do to help YOU... I know it's stressful... but I also suspect that you can totally do this! And we SUPPORT YOU!!!

Also, the semester is almost over... and then we'll all have a drink in your honor!

T&Ps go out to you and your family. Hoping that the surgery is a success with a short recovery!

Did your advisor ask to talk to you or did you set up the meeting? Maybe it's not about being behind or work quality. It could just be a routine meeting. Or even if it is about being behind, that's actually a mark of a good program where they try to catch you before you are so far behind, you can't catch up.

Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers today. Dad is doing well! It is a good thing that he got this second opinion because the doctors in Savannah were totally wrong. There were two blockages in his heart: one in an old vein and one in a bypass. So the surgeon put two long stints in. According to the doc my father should be able to feel the difference immediately because his heart was really starving for blood in some parts. Dad said he feels like he can breathe easier, so that's an awesome sign.

I'm so tired, just worn out emotionally. I forgot that this hospital has a L&D ward. I kept seeing pregnant women who looked like they were about to pop and women with brand new babies. It was tiring putting on a strong face for my mother. She's so insane. And filled with questions about my future, which I don't really have all of the answers to.

My test stick didn't work in the Monitor this morning. Go figure. 4 days until my HSG.

Oh Sam...

I'm so glad your Dad is doing better.

I totally know how it feels to have your mom ask you questions that you just don't have answers to!!! It's hard and frustrating and adds to the pressure you're already putting on yourself. But at the same time, it's your mom and you know she just cares about you. Seriously... Both DH & I have been there. It is emotionally draining.

You are such a strong woman for sitting in that waiting room and not just breaking down. I admire you for that.

You, my dear, will make it through this semester! Eventually, you will see your life's path. And if not, just follow the stepping stones as they show themselves. Sometimes that's all you can do. Let me know whenever you need a shoulder to cry on or an ear to vent to.

Okay. Drunken "momma" rant over. Have a good weekend, and try not to study too hard. Take a few breaks and enjoy LIFE!!

I'm glad that your dad is doing well. I'm really glad that he got the second opinion.

I'm sorry about the L&D ward on the hospital. That would really bother me, too. It is still really cold here, but it's gotten sunnier, and people are always taking their babies and toddlers for walks past our house. Or I will see them when I go out to the stores. It's so frustrating. I'm just ready for it to be my turn already.

You can PM me any time if you want to talk. I'll even give you my cell phone number if you ever need a friend to text.

"It isn't worth it if you are going to have a breakdown like this every time."

"This is why people say wait a year."

"This is what we get for trying to fast track it."

"But I love you and support you."

Statements 1-3 WEREN'T HELPING HONEY.

He doesn't get it. I know my body. I've never had regular periods. I'm watching my body do exactly what it did last time...which is wait and wait and wait and show no signs of ovulation. I have the $1000 to pay for the test. I just don't know how I'm not supposed to cry that the price increased because the first department gave me the wrong estimation. And I cry because I'm tired and I haven't ridden my bike and that makes me cranky.

I'm sorry, Sam. Sometimes our DHs just don't know what to say.

Mine said something to me the other day about how getting pregnant is all up to me. It made me really angry because he needs to actually BD with me for me to get pregnant. I know he's been tired lately, but I'd really like to do it more so we can increase our chances. He made it sound like getting pregnant is just something I can cook up all on my own without his help, like sticking a frozen pizza in the oven.

The price would really upset me, too. Especially since the original price on the procedure was quoted a lot lower. I think that hospitals should have to stick with their original estimate. They shouldn't be able to raise it on you.

We love you.

*hugs*

I'm sorry sweetie!

I have a really dumb question. Will the HSG show why you aren't ovulating? I thought it was to look for dye flow through the tubes and obvious defects?

Reba, it's always comforting to know other people have husband woes

Ashley, you are correct that the hsg won't show why I'm not ovulating but rather it gives you a picture of the shape. My OB GYN wants to rule out abnormalities before proceeding with medication. I am sure my husbands SA is normal and so will my HSG. It is just a part of the checklist to get to medication.

I'll survive. It's really not that big of a deal I'm just cranky and weepy today.

So sorry Sam. Like Reba said, sometimes DH's don't understand, but also keep in mind that they might be experiencing anxiety/ fear that they might be the problem. My DH has slightly subfertile morphology and motility and I think that he sometimes blames himself for our failure to conceive.

I'm so sorry about HSG cost. I'm still so surprised that it's not covered by insurance, especially since you are having Af issues. I agree with you, though you might not have anything wrong with your tubes, shape, etc...you will need to get this done to move forward with MA.

I was very impatient like you, as I knew something was wrong with my cycles and low and behold something is still wrong. Trust your gut feelings and move on as you see fit. You know your body better than anyone else.
