Well Jordan had a routine ADHD appointment today. As usual they checked him over from top to bottom - they have to because of the meds hes on.
Anyway, after his check the doctor decided he wanted Jordan to have an ECG He didnt say why, but anyway, the ECG came back as Jordan having a ventricualr hypertrophy (sp?) . Basically the ventricles (sp?) are enlarged But......the doctor isnt sure if the ECG has shown that because the equipment was designed for use on an adult but used on a child and has given a false reading. Or if it has been cause by his medication. He is having a repeat ECG in October.
Also, Jordan has been diagnosed as having OCD and ODD as well as ADHD. The doctor has reduced his daily dose of Ritalin incase it has caused a heart problem. But he has been put on another drug. To be honest, the ADHD and the other stuff are the least of my worries right now

whats an ECG? and i dont know what a ventrical hyprotrpphy is either?
well you know i have ADHD and i was on ritalin when i was younger, around 3ish.. but i was a birdie eater to begin with, and when i got on the ritalin it went to almost not eating at all.. so my mom took me off of it, I havent ever been on any other medication for it. but she started me on a diet. Have you ever tried the diet for ADHD? i mean its not as GOOD as ritalin where it makes u all "normal" completely.. but it does help. I dont know how severe? jordan is though. I wouldnt say i was the worst lol but i wasnt one of the best either. Maybe you can see if thats maybe a good thing for you guys? ya know? like if thats best for your family? i dont know.. just throwing out suggestions lol
i hope hes okay though! even though i have no idea what that thing is.. it sounds scary!
Jordan tried the diet prior to all the meds and stuff. I still try to control what he eats now to a certain extent, but it wasnt doing any good really, hence why we started on the meds.
I dont exactly know what an ECG is. But when the did it he had loads of monitor things stuck to his check, legs and feet. They told me it basically montiors his heart rate and can pick up abnormalities.

Ugh, Kate, this is so scary. I don't know too much about any of those issues, but I am hoping you find something that does help him for the better. Hugs. Stay strong through all of this.

I think it's called an EKG in the States. Measures the electrical activity in the heart or something like that.
Kate, hope there is better news next month hun xxx
I'm sorry Kate! I hope it's just a misreading instead of anything serious! My thoughts and prayers are with you. Keep us updated how the appt. in October goes.
kate its not always something to really worry over, though it is bad. ryan has an enlarged heart and ventricles and he's fine. he was born with it though, and it is something that runs in john's family. his doctor told us its just something that needs to be monitored every so often, that he'll need to mention if he ever goes out for sports, and that it could possibly cause heart problems when he is much much older. i don't know if jordan's is the same as his or not, but it hasn't yet caused any problems with ryan.
good luck and i hope next month's appointment shows that he doesn't have it.
