My sis is having a baby boy due the beginning of June. She is naming him Sawyer. She has used raindrop themed things in his room. And made him something similar to this. So I thought the stick alpha goes well with this. And I incorporated raindrops. Also, the bedding she made him has old fashioned bicycles on it. And I used one of those as well. What do you think of this? The pic is one of Zane and that won't be there of course. I'm going to print this as an 8x10 and then cut the hole to fit a 4x6 photo. So what do you think?
NEW VERSION BELOW - CC Weclome!
Actually...third version. I think the old fashion bike I was using is a bit girly. And this one is definitely more boyish. So I'm giving it a try.

I like it; I would somehow try to make it more of a 'scene', kwim? Like, maybe get a brownish/wooden type frame and make it appear as if it's standing in the middle of the forest (on the leaves) and not floating in mid-air. And I agree about making his name more visible!

It is on the leaves...just lighter colored leaves. I don't do floating frames. lol When the pic is 8x10 instead of sized small for JM you can definitely tell it is on the ground and sunk into the "ground" a bit.
I'm using a different program because i can't find my PS install disc. And it isn't as good.
The reason I don't have the name higher is because I didn't want the stick letters to be "floating" in the air, but like they are on the ground. I've already made this paper a LOT lighter than it had been to make the name noticeable, but I will see what I can do to make the name pop a bit more. Because that is my main concern too....that the letters blend in too much to the scene.
I didn't use a frame around the pic because I am putting this in a frame and I wasn't sure how that would look. I'm not even sure if I have any frames right now since I lost all my kits and have just bought a couple. I think I must though since most kits come with some. I think a frame made out of sticks would really work though...I'm sure I don't have one of those anymore. I used to have a ton. Maybe I can make a frame out of some of the sticks used for the alpha. I'll see.

Thanks for the CC. I'll be back.
What about using some kind of white, brush-stroke, cloud-type element behind the name at a low opacity? Like in this siggy:
For the frame part, you could actually maybe take some real sticks and glue them them around the photo in the middle to make a frame after it's printed. Like a mixed media type thing.
It's really cute! And it's really nice of you to do this for your sister.
Okay.....thank you for all the suggestions. I made a frame and I do think it looks much better this way. And I made some other changes as well. The frame helped the name stand out much better too.
What do you think now? If you have any more CC please let me know. It really helped. And, Julia, looking back now I can see more how it looks like it was floating...it wasn't really...but it kind of did look that way. It is well grounded now.
****Adding it to the OP for ease of comparison****

.
That is a cool idea. I'm not going to do it this time....but I think I will do it some time.
