With all this cooooold weather it is soup weather.

Do you prefer soups, stews, or chowders in general? What are your faves?

I prefer stews and chowders in general. My friends makes this taco soup though that is delicious. We eat it with corn chips and sour cream.

And my grandmother makes the best cheese and broccoli soup (thick though like a chowder) that is awesome. Some are nasty, but hers is superb.

And my mom rocks at chicken noodles with veggies and dumplings. Yummmm!!!!

I am a stew kinda girl...that is what I grew up on...we ate them probably 3-4 times a week. They are a little different from here though...We make different versions: my kids LOVE tomatoe, I love cabbage...my mom made a killer cauliflower. So many variations!
I love soups too though...my mom's specialty was split pea, mine is a Barefoot Contessa recipe: Lentil Sausage Soup Recipe : Ina Garten : Recipes : Food Network

Thanks SSWC Maker for my BEAUTIFUL siggy!!

I like everything DH & the kids like certain types of soups/stews but they are pickier so it's hard to make something everyone likes.

I make a yummy chicken noodle soup (from scratch) the Russian/Polish way where you simmer the broth for a long time, strain it and cook the noodles separately that you serve it with; this one is DH's favourite. For the kids, I cut up the chicken & carrots and put them back into the soup with the noodles.

I also make homemade cream of tomato soup, pumpkin soup, Harvest soup (with butternut squash). And then in the crockpot - chili, beef stew, Hungarian goulash. I wanna try lamb stew!!!

My MIL and my mom make a ton of soups - split pea, veggie/chicken, red borscht, green borscht, white borscht, pickle soup, milk soup, fish soup, chicken meatball soup... the list goes on & on. I don't make any of these b/c DH and the kids are so picky on soups!

My husband doesn't like soup either. Neither does Finn in general.
